Quality Manager - Forensic Toxicology

The Role

The Quality Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of quality control for this busy forensics laboratory, ensuring its systems are to ISO 17025 accreditation standard.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to Directors:

  • Support, manage and develop the laboratory quality system to ISO 17025 accreditation standard;
  • Undertake audits of all the aspects of the quality system and procedures;
  • Communicate and encourage quality aspects and requirements to the staff and as required, through presentations;
  • Generation of quality reports and update staff at company meetings;
  • Maintain quality control spreadsheets and statistical analysis;
  • Organise and support visits by external auditing bodies (e.g. UK Accreditation Service, Human Tissue Authority, Home Office);
  • Maintain and update quality control documentation, including the Quality Manual, as required;
  • Work effectively with Technical Manager, Deputy Quality Manager and staff.

The Company maintains very high standards and provides its toxicology service to HM Coroner, the police, pathologists and solicitors. Whilst using the latest analytical techniques, the Company is able to detect and measure a wide-range of drugs and poisons and has attained an excellent reputation in this exciting field.

The Candidate

Most suited to this role of Quality Manager would be someone with analytical or toxicology laboratory experience, with the aspiration to take their previous and appropriate experience of quality management (within ISO 17025 standard) to new heights and potential. The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent in any biological, chemical or life science subject.

A high degree of self-motivation, discipline and self-efficiency would serve this role well, as would a strong interest and ability in meeting and working with clients and external auditing bodies.

Within 30 mins travelling time of Malvern, Worcestershire

Qualifications

Degree or equivalent qualification in any biological, chemical or life science subject is preferable

  • Open to performing new tasks

Relevant Experience

  • Previous experience of quality management with ISO 17025 standard
  • Analytical laboratory and/or toxicology experience of distinct benefit
