The Role

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for the successful management of the company's highly important southern UK sales region. This role is responsible for the active management of 9 Territory Sales Managers (TSM's), all strategically located within the south UK region. The TSM's are responsible for promoting the Company's well-established portfolio of laboratory instrumentation, consumables and chemicals to new and existing customers within the key scientific communities across Southern England, including the prestigious academic varsity accounts in Cardiff, Oxford, Cambridge, London, Bristol and Reading. As a key player within this rapidly growing company, the Regional Sales Manager reports directly to the UK Sales Manager who is directly responsible for the timely and accurate transfer of market intelligence from field to board and of course of strategy implementation into the field.

The Candidate

Most suited to this role of Regional Sales Manager would be someone with the aspiration to take their previous scientific sales experience and product/man management to new heights of responsibility and earning potential.

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent. Familiarity of previously working at a similar level is preferable and certainly with previous sales experience within the life science industry is essential.

A high degree of self-motivation, discipline and self-efficiency would serve this role well, as would a strong interest and ability in meeting and working with clients, who would be scientists at the top of their profession. It is also important for the successful candidate to be able to provide inspirational leadership to their team who have a range of experiences from the well established to the recent graduate, making sure that the very best performance can be sought from all.

Ideal Home Location

Preferably within 1 hour of M25, on the westerly or north westerly aspect

Qualifications

Degree or equivalent qualification in any biological, chemical or life science subject

Personal Traits

  • Motivational man management skills
  • Honed sales and negotiation skills
  • Enthusiastic and positive outlook
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Self-disciplined

Relevant Experience

  • Previous or current sales experience in the scientific marketplace is essential
  • Man management experience would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of the laboratory supplies market and the main UK players critical
  • Good report writing and strategy implementation skills
