£28,000 to £30,000 salary (depending on experience), plus £7-8k OTC bonus, company car and a range of other benefits

The Role

The Sales Engineer is responsible for promoting the Company's Process Analytics products to the Pharma, Chemical, Food, Beverage and Brewery, Semiconductor and Power industries across North East England and Scotland. The role has a measured focus on New Business Development (50%) and Existing Account Management (50%), with 25% of sales coming from new customers. Furthermore, the Sales Engineer will take responsibility for and coordinate technical and commercial support for customers, and sell the Company's service products associated with Process Analytics products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Value added income and net sales value targets;
  • Maintain Area Strategic Development Plan for Key Accounts, Development Accounts and Major Target accounts;
  • Develop and maintain Quarterly Key Objectives Plan;
  • Develop and maintain Monthly Action Plan;
  • Regularly delivers the objectives from Area, Quarterly and Monthly action plans;
  • 64 visits per month in accordance with Area Development Plan (min 4 days in field per week);
  • 50% of Visits in 'Targeted New Accounts';
  • Weekly Reporting of Sales Activities via CRM;
  • Develop and maintain Mapping of installed base during all customer contacts;
  • Sell Company service offerings associated with Process Analytics products;
  • Actively generate cross selling leads for other divisions during all sales activity.

The highly profitable Process Analytics Group is divided into two business units: INGOLD is a worldwide leader in pH, dissolved oxygen, gaseous oxygen, conductivity, turbidity and CO2 for process analytics applications in chemical, pharmaceutical and food & beverage industries; and THORNTON is the world leader for pure and ultra pure water treatment measurement & control in pharmaceutical, semiconductor and power industries with parameters of conductivity/resistivity, TOC, pH, DO, dissolved ozone and flow.

The Candidate

Most suited to this role of Sales Engineer would be someone with previous proven and successful sales experience in the process analytical market and a proven track record of continually winning and developing new accounts.

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or an associated discipline.

Strong communication and self-motivational skills would serve this role well, as would a hunger to succeed and meet financial and sales targets.

Territory

North East England and Scotland - from Carlisle/Darlington northwards (includes Belfast)

Ideal Home Location

Within territory - ideally along the M8 corridor

Qualifications

HND or equivalent qualification in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering

  • Impressive career history in complex selling
  • A high degree of experience of selling technical products into the process areas of the Pharmaceutical, Chemical and EPC industries in the assigned geographical areas
  • Existing business relationships in these industrial areas
  • Proven history of meeting sales targets
  • Proven history of repeatedly winning new accounts and developing their business
