Area Sales Representative - Life Science Consumables

Package:

£22,000 to £30,000 salary (depending on experience), plus £5,000 bonus (OTC), plus additional end of year bonus for over target achievement (£1,500), company car, pension & private healthcare

The Role

The function of this role is to promote the Company's extremely well known and established life science plastic consumables throughout the core South East (not London) territory of the UK. Business will be developed with existing and new clients within the university (research and teaching), hospital (excluding NHS), food, brewing, chemical, water and biotechnology industry sectors; a significant majority of these being based in the target territory.

By utilising the comprehensive product training supplied by the employer, the expertise gained is used to identify the most critical needs from the customers who would typically be working with cell/tissue culture, immunoassay, PCR and other molecular biology applications. From this the most appropriate product from the Company's extensive portfolio can then be presented.

The Company is a highly-respected manufacturer of high-quality and innovative life science plastic ware and is specifically well renowned for its extensive tissue culture ware and microtitre plates. The Company's products are extremely well known and used in all the key scientific companies and organisations throughout the developed world.

The Candidate

Most suited to this role would be someone with the energy and desire to take their scientific qualification and/or previous business development experience to new heights of responsibility and earning potential.

This is an exciting and pivotal role within a highly successful organisation where the successful candidate will be encouraged to use their scientific application and commercial acumen to best effect to win important new business.

A high degree of self motivation, discipline and self efficiency would serve this role well as would a dynamic interest and ability in meeting and working with clients who would be scientists at the top of their profession.

Qualifications

Degree or equivalent qualification in any life science subject

Personal Traits

  • Energetic and positive outlook
  • Warm friendly personality
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Self disciplined and ambitious

Relevant Experience

  • Laboratory experience is preferable (but not essential)
  • Some commercial experience in either buying or selling of benefit
  • Evidence of outside science interests
  • Proven successful track record in scientific sales would be advantageous
