The Role

The Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting and promoting the sales of generator and fire pump maintenance contract products within the sales office and at occasional trade shows. The Technical Sales Engineer will also be responsible for advising customers and the company's predominantly administrative team on the practical requirements of repairs and services of generators and fire pump equipment. This being to ensure that all quotations and tenders precisely meet the customers exact requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drawing from technical knowledge to advise customers on the most suitable products for their applications.
  • Taking and processing sales orders and issuing accurate quotations accordingly.
  • Providing support for external sales and engineering staff.
  • Execute marketing campaigns to pro-actively generate product sales.
  • To prepare sales information and reports.
  • Maintain customer database.

The Company is a one of the UK's leading specialists and national suppliers of service and maintenance of Generators, Fire Pumps and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). For over 30 years, along with planned maintenance and repairs, the Company's products include maintenance contracts, fire pump and generator installation & commissioning nationwide, load bank hire, generator hire and the supply of spare parts.

The Candidate

Most suited to the role of Technical Sales Engineer would be someone who has a strong electrical or mechanical engineering background, with experience servicing fire pumps, uninterruptible power supplies and generator equipment. Some experience of technical support would also be useful.

A high degree of self-motivation, discipline and attention to detail would serve this role well, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills. It is also important for the successful candidate to be a good team player whose skills and aspirations will complement those of their colleagues.

Personal Traits

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Highly organised with good attention to detail
  • Self-disciplined
  • Full and preferably clean driving licence
  • Good team player
  • Positive attitude

Relevant Experience

  • Strong electrical engineering or mechanical engineering knowledge is essential
  • Knowledge of Service Director and ACT CRM would be an advantage but not essential
  • Experience servicing power generation equipment would be a distinct advantage
  • A practical knowledge of power generation equipment essential
