The Design Consultant is responsible for providing fact-based guidance and consultancy services to the Building industry. The Design Consultant will work on a range of services, including:
The Design Consultant will have the opportunity to influence the strategic development of building services guidance, specifications and designs for the Company's clients and to promote best practice. The workload predominantly focus on developing proposals and delivering consultancy work, although there will also be involvement in medium-term research projects on occasion.
The employer is a consultancy, test and research organisation, providing a wide range of specialist services to help construction and building services companies and owner occupiers improve the design, build and operation of buildings. As a not-for-profit, member-based association, the organisation is able to offer an independent approach and has an authoritative reputation. Its blend of product testing and market research can also help manufacturers gain the relevant certification and plan their marketing strategies more effectively. This is an exciting and pivotal role for a candidate with previous experience in building services engineering design and specification. A bias towards mechanical services design is desirable, although electrical service design would also be beneficial. A knowledge and understanding of building services systems and components from a number of perspectives is essential - i.e. design, installation and commissioning etc. The ideal candidate will have an HND or preferably degree/equivalent qualification in engineering or building services design.
