£25,000 - £30,000 salary (depending on experience), plus £5000 bonus (OTC) and company car

The Role

The Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for promoting and selling the Company' s air-conditioning control products to both existing and potential clients and distributors by creating, building and maintaining excellent relationships with key accounts across the UK, predominantly in the South East UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Search for new clients who could benefit from company products or services and maximise customer potential;
  • Establish new, and maintain existing, long-term relationships with customers;
  • Manage and interpret customer requirements - listen to clients and use astute questioning to understand, anticipate and exceed their needs;
  • Provide technical presentations and demonstrate how a product will meet client needs in terms of quality, price and delivery;
  • Calculate client quotations and negotiate and close sales by agreeing terms and conditions;
  • Negotiate tender and contract terms, to meet both client and company needs;
  • Provide pre-sales technical assistance and product education;
  • Record and maintain client contact data and administering client accounts;
  • Analyse costs and sales and prepare reports for head office;
  • Co-ordinate sales projects and help in the design of custom-made products;
  • Support marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events;
  • Provide training and produce support material for other members of the sales team.

The Employer

The Company was founded in 1973 and operates worldwide. Within the UK, the Company established its office 10 years ago and has grown rapidly and consistently ever since. The company focuses upon three different markets; Refrigeration, Air conditioning and Humidification. The total business is almost equally split among the three divisions and each one is equally important to the Company.

The Candidate

Most suited to this role of Sales Engineer would be someone with previous field sales experience within the air-conditioning or HVAC markets.

A high degree of self motivation, discipline and self efficiency would serve this role well, as would a dynamic interest and ability in meeting and working with clients who would benefit from using your products.

Qualifications

HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent qualification in any engineering subject, ideally electronics

  • Driven and enthusiastic
  • Strong communication skills (spoken, written and listening)
  • Natural ability to take ownership

Relevant Experience

  • Experience in the air conditioning or refrigeration industries would be an advantage
  • Previous technical sales experience is essential
  • Basic knowledge of thermodynamic principles
  • Background within manufacturing and/or engineering
